Charles Ruggieri, doctor of law, is the founder of Batipart Group, a family holding company founded in 1988. He joined the property sector of the steel industry in 1970 and was responsible for it until Immobilière Batibail was privatised in 1987. In 1999, he successfully completed the merger of Batibail with Gecina, France's leading property company.
At the same time, Charles developed the Batigère group, a social housing group, which he led from 1985 to 1995. In the early 2000s, he created Covivio (formerly Foncière des Régions) and made it one of Europe's leading RE property companies, chairing the Supervisory Board from 2001 to 2010. At the same time, in 2001, he set up another business division focused on dependent elderly people, gradually developing the Korian-Medica Group, Europe's leading provider of retirement homes (stake sold in 2014).
Charles Ruggieri has worked to diversify the Group's business lines, of which three currently exist, and to expand internationally over the last ten years.
He transferred Batipart Group to his three children in 2018, and has been responsible for its operational handover since 2021.
Charles Ruggieri is a member of the family's Management Board, which is responsible for defining the Group's strategy.
